In conclusion

In conclusion, the objectives of this experiment have been successfully achieved. The chemical solutions for each test were prepared accordingly to the manual. The different test shows different type of carbohydrates based on their classification. First, glucose, lactose fructose, sucrose and cellulose are carbohydrates that give positive test for Molisch’s test. As for Barfoed’s test, only monosaccharide gives out red precipitate in Barfoed’s test solution which is glucose and fructose while cellulose, lactose, sucrose and starch do not show any changes. In addition, Benedict’s test shows that fructose, lactose and gluose are reducing sugars which give positive test whereas sucrose are non-reducing sugars. These reducing sugars give the positive results after the addition of hydrochloric acid.
